One front door for electrical skills & careers
Five industry bodies share one skills agenda. We built the website that brings their routes, research and news together.
the-esp.org.ukA shared voice for five industry bodies
The ESP speaks for the whole electrotechnical industry. It was formed by the ECA, the JIB, NET, SELECT and Unite the Union, and its website has to present that partnership clearly, give each member its place and make it obvious what the partnership does.
We shaped the site around the partnership’s three aims: clear routes into and through the trade, high quality training and assessment, and being the trusted source of knowledge on electrotechnical skills. Every visitor can see at a glance where to go next.
Routes into the trade, all in one place
People reach an electrical career in different ways, and the industry needed one place that explains them all. The site sets out the recognised routes for new entrants, career changers and experienced workers, and points to the specialist websites the partnership runs:
- The Electrical Careers website for people exploring the trade
- Approved training routes and apprenticeships
- Industry-approved qualifications
- The Experienced Worker Assessment for electricians with years of experience
- Electrician Plus, for upskilling those already qualified
- The Rogue Trainers campaign against unrecognised courses
Research employers and policymakers can use
The partnership commissions labour market research so employers, training providers and government can make better skills decisions. We gave that work a proper home: reports sit in clear download libraries, from UK-wide studies on solar, electric vehicle charging and the return on apprenticeships to a report for each nation and region.
Training providers and employers can also follow the Training and Qualifications Forum, download past presentations and question logs, and sign up to hear about future updates.
Easy to keep up to date
The ESP’s team runs the site day to day without needing a developer. They can:
- Publish news and industry statements
- Add new reports to the download libraries
- Change the home page banners and highlights
- Reorganise the menus as the partnership’s work grows
- Post each year’s annual report
We also host the website on our own secure servers and keep watch on its health, so it stays fast and available.
