Experienced Worker Assessment
The website helping experienced electricians get their skills formally recognised against industry Level 3 standards.
electrical-ewa.org.ukRecognising skills without the paperwork
Thousands of electricians across the UK have years of practical experience but no formal Level 3 qualification. Perhaps they never completed an apprenticeship, or they trained overseas, or they’ve simply been working competently for decades without the paperwork to prove it. The Experienced Worker Assessment gives them a route to formal recognition.
TESP needed a website that could clearly explain the two assessment routes — Installation Electrician and Domestic Electrician — guide candidates through eligibility, and help them find an approved assessment provider near them. The site had to be straightforward enough for someone unfamiliar with the formal qualification landscape to understand exactly what was involved.
Installation Electrician
For electricians with 5+ years’ experience in installation and maintenance work. Assessed via AM2E.
Domestic Electrician
For electricians with 3+ years’ experience in domestic electrical work. Assessed via AM2ED.
Two clear assessment routes
We built the site around the two distinct routes into the assessment: Installation Electrician (for those with five or more years’ experience) and Domestic Electrician (for those with three or more years). Each route has its own dedicated section walking candidates through eligibility, the assessment process, what qualifications they’ll need, and what the outcome means for their career.
The journey is structured around clear stages — from initial skills scan through evidence generation to the final AM2 end assessment — so candidates always know where they are in the process and what comes next.
Find an EWA Provider
Once a candidate understands the route they need, they need to find an approved provider to assess them. We built a provider directory that lets candidates search by assessment type, location, and region — returning both local and national providers so they can find the most convenient option.
The directory includes geolocation support so candidates can find providers near them instantly, and separates results into local and national categories. Providers can also apply to be listed, keeping the directory current as the network grows.

Guidance that builds confidence
For many candidates, the EWA is their first encounter with formal assessment. We made sure the site didn’t just explain the process but built confidence around it. Comprehensive FAQs cover everything from eligibility details and required qualifications to what happens if a candidate has overseas experience.
Instructional videos walk candidates through what to expect, and clear stage-by-stage breakdowns — skills scan, evidence generation, end assessment — demystify a process that can feel daunting for someone who’s been working competently for years without formal recognition.
