A data-driven catalogue for an electrical products distributor

Takbro’s cable ties, terminals, markers and conduit online, in a catalogue the company could keep current itself.

Takbro is an electrical products distributor, founded in 1963 and based in Burgess Hill, West Sussex. Its range runs from cable ties and crimp terminals to cable markers, conduit and connectors.

One catalogue, many product families

Takbro’s range is wide rather than deep in any one place: cable ties, crimp and compression terminals, cable markers, flexible conduit, heatshrink and sleeving, wire-to-wire connectors and circuit board connectors. The site gave each family its own page, reached from the same menu on every screen, so a buyer could go straight to the part they needed.

Each family described the same way

Every family followed one pattern — what the products are, the sizes and materials carried, and the standards they meet. That consistency came from the data behind the pages rather than from writing each one by hand, so a customer comparing cable markers with crimp terminals read the same kind of detail in the same order.

A simple system behind the pages

Behind the site we built a straightforward content management system. Takbro could add products, edit descriptions and reorganise the catalogue without coming back to us, and the pages were generated from that data. That is why the range stayed consistent as it grew, and why the company was not waiting on a developer to correct a size or add a line.
