Everything a business needed to move, in one place

A company thinking about moving has a long list of questions, and they are rarely all answered in one place. The site put them together: area pages for Eastbourne, Hastings, Lewes, Rother and Wealden, alongside sectors, transport and connectivity, education and workforce, and recruitment and apprenticeships.

The funding sat in one section rather than scattered across the site — growth fund, business incubator fund, start-up and growth loans, grant aid, tax incentives and the empty commercial property fund — each with the amounts, the eligibility and what the money could be spent on. A specialist commercial property search was built into the site for the premises themselves.

Built as a platform, not a brochure

Behind the public site sat a layered solution with separate parts for the site itself, the administration system, the data layer and URL rewriting. The rewrite rules lived in the database rather than in a configuration file, so an address could be changed without a release — useful for a service whose campaigns and funding schemes came and went.
