Mental Health organisation grows on the web
19 April 2005
GROW, founded in Australia in 1957 by former mental sufferers, has a national network of over 400 groups in Australia and has now spread to six other countries being New Zealand, Ireland, England, the USA, Canada and Mauritius. Its principal strength is the support members give each other from their own experience in matters to do with mental health. Through this members are helped to recover from all forms of mental breakdown.
eplatforms has donated hosting, domain acquisition and website design fees. In addition eplatforms has ensured GROW conforms to W3C Accessibility Guidelines.
“It’s often difficult for smaller NGO’s and the charitable sector to afford a web presence in an increasingly competitive market”, said managing director Simon Gibbs. “In many cases, exposure is crucial to their survival. There’s a lot the new media industry could do to support the non profit sector even if it’s just in terms of cheaper hosting or design fees”
